We love project management! Why? Because good project management keeps church planters focused on people. Planters are naturally wired for people… the problem is they tend to either get so focused on people that they never get to the details that need done (e.g. legal paperwork) or they get so bogged down in the details that they never get back to people.
We surveyed 10 church planters about 6 weeks before launch and asked them what top three things they were working on. They answered things like finding a facility, buying equipment, and designing postcards. Not one of them answered anything that has to do with people like evangelizing the lost, developing teams, discipling leaders or networking in the community… the very things they are planting the church to accomplish!
