Some church planters just aren’t interested in press releases. They say they’ve tried it before and it didn’t work. They say it’s too much work. They say nobody has ever mentioned a press release when asked why they came.
I must admit that sometimes they are less effective than others. Sometimes they don’t get printed… but sometimes they do. When they do get printed you need to remember that EVERY positive touch you have with your community is a good thing. They say it takes “six to stick”. Six positive touches to get people to hear and understand your message. Press releases are usually not the most memorable touch, but they are a touch that is free and that contributes to the six touches.
Still not convinced? Michael Cottle of Crossmark got on TV because of a press release. Check this out.
