When New Life Christian Church did our needs assessment we were able to conduct over 200 interviews. These interviews were with school principals, police, politicians, community association leaders, all the people who are involved in making our community what it is. We were shocked about the access we were given. The reality is many of these same people wouldn’t return our calls when we called to let them know about our church… but when we expressed the genuine concern about the community through the needs assessment we were given access.
We learned a great deal about our community. Some discoveries were not surprising, others were shocking.
We also had people who conducted surveys for us get so passionate about the results that they began ministries to meet those needs.
We always asked for referrals of other leaders we should meet with and were amazed how often we were given the same names.
